July 1-12--"Story Beats" 10-day FANTASY & FICTION CAMP

Featuring widely-published author, Ellen McGinty and Founder of Tokyo Kids Write, Melissa Uchiyama

This is a camp for fantasy fans and fiction lovers! Writers can be ages 7-16.

How do we take an idea and give it all it needs to be a fulfilling story?

Join us and find your beat! Be inspired by author, Ellen McGinty and bring your ideas to life!

They can be burgeoning writers or already consider themselves dedicated and talented!

What do we do with our ideas? This camp will help us identify the ideas that light us up and then help our writers move forward with their story elements! This 10-day camp features the work & teaching of Resident-Author, Ellen McGinty, alongside Tokyo Kids Write Founder, Melissa Uchiyama, allowing for more time to go deeper!

Creativity meets surefire ways for writers to move forward! Discover and adopt the same idea of Story Beats that makes Ellen's work a success, blockbuster movies, and video games worth watching again and again! Our writers can express their beats using paper and ink, paint, walls of stickers, and more---science, art, and writing all come together for our creative campers. Writers receive specific feedback on their own short stories from Melissa and from our resident author, Ellen!

We will use our understanding of story beats plus many other skills to edit our short story anthology of fantasy and fiction! This camp anthology will be made into a gorgeous, keepsake book, followed by a fantastical authors’ reading party!
